Making a Claim through the CICA
There are many types of criminal injury, including:
- Physical abuse
- Rape
- Accidental assault
- Intentional assault
- Murder
- Robbery
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse
If you want to make a claim following a criminal injury, you will have to go through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
There are certain rules for eligibility:
- The incident must have happened in England, Scotland or Wales
- It must have been reported to the police
- It must be logged within 2 years of the incident
- Compensation will be only be considered if the injuries exceed the £1,000 tariff
Whilst there does not need to be a conviction for the offence, you must fully co-operate with the police after reporting the incident.
Here at Precision Claims we have experience of working with the CICA which enables us to ensure you get the right amount of compensation.
