Tummy tuck compensation

Abdominoplasty is more commonly known as a Tummy Tuck. This type of cosmetic surgery operation is to remove excess fat and skin from the tummy whilst tightening the abdominal muscles. This type of surgery is often used to remove fold of skin left when people have lost a large amount of weight.

Although they are not common complications can occur either during or after tummy tuck surgery.

These can include:

  • Haematoma-This is bleeding under the skin that may need surgery to stop the bleeding and drain the affected area
  • Nerve damage-Numbness happens following surgery and although this is usually temporary it can be permanent. In the first 3 months after surgery there will be numbness in the tummy and care will need to be taken until the numbness has settled down and gone.
  • Red scars-These may take some time to settle down but the surgeon will advise treatments to help

If the surgeon carrying out the tummy tuck operation has been negligent and not taken due care during surgery you may be able to make a claim for compensation.
